The Full Story
From a young age Tristan has been fascinated with music. At the age of four, he was already performing harp and piano at studio recitals and concerts under the instruction of his mother, Bertina Mitchell-Boyadjiev, who was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Tristan sang in a youth choir for six years starting in first grade and would go on to learn the trombone in fifth grade. The same year, he found the instrument he was most passionate about -- saxophone. Tristan played the alto, tenor, and soprano saxophone all throughout middle and high school. After excelling in his high school jazz band at Marin School of the Arts, he was chosen, multiple times, to perform as a soloist at festivals such as the Folsom and Reno Jazz Festivals, among others.
Upon graduation, he was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston on a full tuition scholarship for saxophone jazz performance. During his time at Berklee, Tristan also studied Music Technology very intensively. Tristan took the opportunity of continuing his college studies abroad in Valencia, Spain where he learned how to produce electronic music, set up sound systems for live performances, DJ, operate professional recording studio technology, and music mixing. In addition to all of these learning experiences in Spain, Tristan was able to perform as a saxophonist and DJ at several venues around the city.
After graduating Berklee in May of 2020 and Icon Collective in December of 2022, Tristan has been forming his electronic music project which features his cinematic, electronic dance music. Currently he is composing pieces for short films and working as a music producer and mixing engineer for independent artists at his music studio in Los Angeles, California.
